Death by Game Show

First I thought shows like the Gerry Springer Show inflicted the most harm on the public through sheer sensationalism at its basest of forms. But of course regular news and politicians have a way of trumping even the trashiest talk shows in any town.

Who would ever have thought watching a game show could kill you? (http://news.inq7.net/breaking/index.php?index=2&story_id=65112) Already, people are saying it was a deadly mix: a million peso pot and 40 percent of the population living below 2 dollars a day.

But the network says that is precisely the point why they are giving so much away anyway. These days, Filipino people do need the hope of a possible million, if not the pot itself. But its not simply a matter of charity. If it was, then why do it by game show?

Government calls for an investigation and then what? It goes back and continues doing the same things that have left Filipinos mired in poverty in the first place. Talk about the blame game. This one is for the books.
